A motor show is almost nothing without radical concepts and new car launches. It was the 15th edition of the expo this time, and many cars as well as bikes were showcased, and there were a few launches too. However, we are here to talk about the most exciting concepts that were showcased this time, and the concepts that we loved in particular.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata's made it a habit of outdoing themselves. And this is something that we see with every car they launch. Tata Sierra EV was one such concept that grabbed a lot of eye balls. The car was not merely a successor in name, but used the cues extensively from the iconic Sierra that Tata Motors produced in the past.

Tata Sierra EV
Concept featured flush door handles, sliding doors, an all-glass area in place of sunroof as well as windows and surrounded the passenger area like a shell, and in-effect giving a great view (we can only imagine) from the passenger cabin. Interestingly, the concept is built on the Alpha architecture, which other production cars use. So who knows, we may see it in production in some form in the future if not the exact concept.

Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e

Maruti teased us with this concept for several weeks before the expo, and has us guessing what it would be really like. The Futuro-e concept indeed looks futuristic with it's fastback styling and raked windscreen at the front. The concept uses black elements extensively.

Maruti Futuro-e
The concept featured an all LED headlight that ran from side to side at the front, in place of ORVM, it had rear-view cameras instead. The rear too, looked radical to the extent, we can call it - scandalous. According to the manufacturer it was designed completely in India.

Tata HBX

It's interesting that Tata is still calling the HBX, a concept, since the car is so close to production. The HBX is exciting for the reason that because it puts the SUV form factor into a size of a hatchback.

Tata HBX
The concept resembles a compact SUV in height, and is slightly bigger in width and height than an average hatchback. Perhaps it is called a concept still, because it will likely not come with the large wheels that it currently stands on. Expected to be launched early next year. When launched, it would be a close competitor to the Mahindra KUV and the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. It would be a riot.

Kia Sonet

The Kia Sonet looks purposeful and smart with its taut body style and creases. The straight and upright stance befits the class in which would compete. Though a concept, it looks close to production. Perhaps only thing that gives away is the flush door handles.

Kia Sonet
The concept uses large headlamps, with LED elements, generous amount of chrome-aluminium bits all around. When goes into production, the car would compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport etc.

Haval Concept H

Haval Concept H was showcased by the Great Wall Motor Company. The manufacturer has infact showcased a product first time in the Indian market to gauge the public interest. It's expected that company will make its foray in the India market sometime in 2021.

Haval Concept H
The Haval Concept H features a rich interior. It comprises of modern-LED elements, a massive grille and sharp and svelte headlamp cluster. If the concept goes into production it would be placed in the mid-size segment and would compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier etc.

Skoda Vision IN

The Skoda Vision IN concept grabbed everyone's attention and is important from the perspective since it previews the India-specific car that Skoda is planning for 2021. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, it has been tailor-made to suit Indian customers.

Skoda Vision IN
The car features a twin-rib illuminating grille as the centre piece and strikingly sharp creases all around. The extensive use of LED in the headlamps and tail-light cluster make the car look futuristic and modern.
