The BS6-compliant Himalayan is the biggest update yet from the manufacturer since the bike was first launched in the year 2016. And it is the second bike (after 350cc Royal Enfield Classic) to receive BS6 compliant engine from the manufacturer. The 411cc fuel-injected, single cylinder SOHC engine now produces marginally lower power figures down to 24.3bhp from 24.5bhp. It now carries an additional catalytic converter on the header pipe and now weighs 5kg more at 199kg from 194kg. These changes are largely due to compliance related guidelines that bike now follows. Interestingly, the long-stroke motor delivers the same torque figures - 32Nm.

The update also brings other interesting changes. Hazard lighting is now available again (was dropped during the last update). According to the manufacturer the brakes have also been reworked. The dual-channel ABS is now switchable at the rear, which should aid riders looking for some fun. The bike’s side-stand has been reworked to provide better stability on all terrains. Instrument cluster has been reworked too and now is lit via white-backlight. The last generation bike’s headlight lit up as soon as the ignition was turned on, now the headlight cannot be lit until you start the bike, a welcome step indeed.

You now get three new colours that were showcased at EICMA 2019. The Royal Enfield Himalayan can now be yours at Rs 1.87 lakh for Snow White and Granite colours. The Sleet Grey and Gravel Grey are priced at Rs 1.89 lakh. For the Lake Blue and Rock Red, you would need to shell out Rs 1.91 lakh.
